Homes for sale

Curious about cohousing? How it works at Laughton Lodge, and homes available now

Homes here don’t change hands often. When they do, they’re sold on the open market, with the maximum price agreed by the community based on professional valuations.

Set in 23 acres of countryside near Lewes, we have eighteen homes within three converted 1930s brick villas, and four detached houses at the edge of our woodland. Our homes range from four-five bedroom family houses to one and two-bedroom apartments. Each is privately owned on a 9,999-year lease, with shared access to the gardens, meadows, woodland and community buildings that make up the rest of the site.

Buying a home at Laughton Lodge

Unlike many cohousing communities, house sales here are between the buyer and the seller and there’s no application process. However we always encourage prospective buyers to visit a few times and get to know the community before committing, and we have an internal sales team to support with this.

Prices tend to be in line with similar properties in the area and slightly below those in neighbouring Lewes, but with the added benefit of 23 acres of shared countryside, a large community building and a real support network of neighbours you know and trust.

New homeowners become members and directors of The Community Project Ltd, which manages the land and shared buildings collectively. You can find out more about how the community is structured on our About page.
